Album Review: RØRY – BLOODLETTING (SADCØRE RECORDS)

Critically acclaimed alternative artist RØRY returns with their sophomore album, BLOODLETTING, out September 11th, 2026, via SADCØRE RECORDS.

Have you heard of RØRY? Of course you bloody have. The alternative artist has well and truly blown up over the past few years and for good reason. Her music, in particular, her debut album ‘Restoration’, has resonated with so many different people from around the world. Like it or loathe it, there’s simply no denying its impact.

There are many reasons why RØRY has had such an impact on the alternative scene, but one easy to identify reason is the fact that RØRY is an unflinchingly honest artist and proudly speaks of real issues and situations that most can relate to. This is a key part of who she is, always wearing her heart on her sleeve, and that is very much still the case with BLOODLETTING. Albeit, here, RØRY is tapping into a different, heavier side of her sound and letting her anger out. It’s a cathartic expulsion of feeling, an exploration of new ideas, and an evolution of the self.

This is why BLOODLETTING is such a success and why I think it is a better album than the debut.

There are plenty of easy examples to point out as to why I think that too. Examples like the anthemic DEGRADATION, where naysayers will immediately be silenced by the metallised edge the track has, and SWALLOW, with its darker tone and powerful lyrics that speaks of grief and its long-term effects.

Elsewhere, I really like the synth in a cure for cancer, which replicates the beep of a hospital monitor. I don’t love some of the vocal effects, but the emotion in her voice is very real. Whereas MORTAL is RØRY at her heaviest and most hyperactive sounding, DEAD GIRL WALKING has a chorus that compels a singalong, and hometown is very sweet sounding.

One really impressive track is actually just an interlude. It is [the death of a people pleaser] and it is twenty-nine seconds of eye-widening passion that offers so much insight into RØRY’s mind. It, like the tear-jerking [do you want to live?], show that no matter what changes with RØRY, her authenticity won’t.

A reinvention, but not an extreme one, making this an easy album for RØRY fans to connect to, while also inviting in those who want a bit more bite too. Haters will roll their eyes at what RØRY does, but RØRY is just being herself and through that, creating long-lasting music and connections that matter.
