Thy Catafalque – Cseremisz
Thy Catafalque, the Hungarian avant-garde metal project of Tamás Kátai, has released the new single and music video ‘Cseremisz’ (‘Cheremis’). The third single from ‘XIII: Sárga erdő’, the band’s thirteenth album, out November 20th via Season of Mist.
A folk song that never existed, Thy Catafalque’s immense creativity extends further as Tamás Kátai has invented a regional folk song for the Mari, a Finno-Ugric people who live along the Volga and Kama rivers in Eastern Europe. Building it from traditional instruments and a choir: the Male Choir of Tiszaföldvár, Bálint Bokodi on vocals, Anikó Barna on citera and koboz, Dmitry Karev on accordion, Dario Cei on flute and Árpád Szenti on drums. It is, like so much that comes from this artist, wholly unique. A folk song that embodies history while having no actual history itself, dripping in atmosphere, and proving to be quite infectious overall. It, alongside previous singles, tells us that we’re in for one varied treat with this new album.
Mean Ghouls – He’s A Serial Killer
Horror-punk newcomers Mean Ghouls have released their new single ‘He’s A Serial Killer’, taken from their debut album, ‘…and the Horror Goes On’.
Speaking of the new single Mean Ghouls vocalist Alex Marshall shares:
A song that sits under two minutes is a song that often has one job and does it well. That’s the case here. I am a huge Ramones fan, and this was my homage to them and my other favourite band, the Misfits. Right after writing this, I was singing it. I challenge anyone with a sense of humour and a taste for punk rock not to enjoy this. If you don’t, then fine – but I think that’s a you problem.
A short and sharp flash of loud, energetic, and catchy horror punk rock that comes with an undead tongue in an undead cheek kind of outlook. Channelling the likes of Misfits nicely, albeit with a smoother, more accessible, and rockier tone overall. I really like it.
Son of Boar – In the Eyes of Hatred
Bradford-based stoner/doom five-piece Son of Boar return with their second studio album ‘The Hand That Reigns’, which arrives on November 20th 2026 via Pale Wizard Records. Ahead of the release of the album comes its final single ‘In the Eyes of Hatred’. A song for the ‘misfits’, the track serves as a call for unity and understanding in a divided world.
Almost eight minutes of rumbling and grumbling stoner groove and doom-infused heaviness, Son of Boar have dropped a big one here. Titanic sized riffs, gruff and commanding vocals, hefty drumbeats, and so much more. It’s lumbering beast, the kind with some seriously destructive power, but a beast with a potent message that Son of Boar express with conviction and passion.
HELLKVT – Spirits
HELLKVT, the alt-metal duo from Boston, have released their debut single, ‘Spirits’.
A debut release that will turn heads, HELLKVT’s brand of alternative metal comes with a rawness that makes it feel more real. Here we have vibrancy and vitality, delivered with anthemic heart and soul. It’s colourful music, but not without darker hues that showcase a different side to the duo.
Nameless – Another Life
Birmingham genre-benders Nameless return with their brand new single ‘Another Life’. The track is the latest glimpse into the band’s forthcoming sophomore album, Floor Noise, due for release in early 2027.
A broad effort that sees Nameless live up to their genre-defying reputation, and then some. Sitting uncomfortably in the alternative rock and metal scene, with potent elements of nu-core jammed in, a track like this is a grand showcase of their extensive power. It’s brilliantly structured, taking the listener on an unforgettable journey for nearly seven-minutes and will likely leave most feeling breathless come the end.
Eville – Slay
Brighton trio Eville have today the 19th February 2027 release of their brand-new EP, Bratpocalypse, via Easy Life Records. Set in a world divided between the opulent “upstairs” and the struggling “downstairs”, where the rich live lavishly above while everyone else fights over scraps below, Bratpocalypse follows Eville’s fight against the greedy, corrupt company ‘EVERYTHInc.’
To coincide with the announcement Eville have shared their new single, ‘Slay’.
Speaking about the new single, Eville vocalist Eva Sheldrake shares:
Slay is our battle cry. It’s an aggressive anthem that’s impossible to ignore. This song marks an important new era for Eville and the beginning of the Bratpocalypse.
Well and truly on course to be one of the biggest bands in the world, Eville kickstart what will surely be their biggest year yet with a feral, explosive, and unforgettable showcase of their infectious power. This is them at their heaviest, and it certainly suits them, but there are still plenty of dancefloor filling elements too. 2027 is Eville’s year.
ATTN Deficit Squirrel – Callin’ in Sick
Ohio based four-piece pop punk band, ATTN Deficit Squirrel, have released their new single and video, ‘Callin’ in Sick’.
This is very cool. A short (only around two minutes) and lively blast of fun-loving, authentic sounding, pop punk/punk rock with lyrics that everyone will find themselves singing along to. The cherry on top proving to be a smile-inducing chorus.
Gorma – The Thicket
Gorma (feat. members of Breach) have announced their upcoming debut full-length record Eat the Sky’, which will be coming out on January 29 via Trust No One Recordings. In support of the album, the band has unleashed the track ‘The Thicket’, which explores faith, doubt, and mortality through the story of two companions walking towards the same unknown end. One believes in God; the other seeks truth in pain.
The sound of transformed post-hardcore, the kind that can only come from experience and time, Gorma’s new single is harsh, hardy, and heavy. Filled with vivid intensity, off-kilter melodies, a sense of chaotic unease, and so much more. It’s quite an experience, especially as its complex structure makes it hard to grasp.
Vanitas – The Great Unknown
Fresh off the back of a headline performance on the EMP stage at Bloodstock Festival 2026 Vanitas return with their brand new single ‘The Great Unknown’.
Capping off an incredible year, Vanitas hit a career high with a brand-new track that feels like the next chapter of the band. Where they have taken all that they’ve learned, all that makes them who they are, and distilled it down into a wild, progressively potent, dramatic eruption of glorious music. It’s a track that showcases progression too. A more layered, more unified, and more complete sounding Vanitas.
THE DARK.FM – Red Line (feat. Kent Osborne)
Los Angeles-based outfit THE DARK.FM have released their new single ‘Redline’, featuring genre-defying US rapper Kent Osborne.
A track likely to polarise, and all because of one thing, the rapping. I don’t rate it, which is such a shame as this is a track with tons of fiery energy, tons of head banging potency, and tons of ‘in your face’ belligerence.
Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse – The Rougaroux
Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse unleash a Halloween howl direct from the Louisiana swamp with their new single & video, ‘The Rougaroux’.
Poppy, blues-infused rock with a Southern gothic twist, Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse are having some fun with this one. Some Halloween-inspired fun that will cause some unintentional spasming as your body loses control to the atmospheric music. A mightily infectious effort.
Breed 77 – Don’t Give Me Up
Breed 77 have released their new single ‘Don’t Give Me Up’. An anthem against bullying and negativity, it is the last single to land from Breed 77’s upcoming album ‘VII’ before the album is released on the 13th of November.
The band shares:
Don’t Give Me Up is an epic rocker of a song with a strong message – an anthem for the dispossessed, the outcasts, the misunderstood and the discriminated against. The song speaks of the struggles of not fitting in, the bullying of those who may look different, dress different or think different. Society is not a kind place for anyone who does not conform to a certain image or lifestyle – kids are under constant pressure of their peers through the advent of social media – adults don’t have it too much better either.
In the modern media age everyone is quick to judge and criticize, without considering the hurt caused by their comments and actions. We’re here to say that it’s OK to be different – to dress however you want, to look the way that makes YOU happy, to live your life on your own terms, not other peoples. This song champions the resilience of all the ‘freaks’ and ‘weirdos’ and celebrates them as they rise above the challenge of modern day – and to those struggling and suffering, hang in there – you are not alone.
It is so good to hear Breed 77 not trying to capture their past, but rather evolve to reflect who they are today. This thinking means we get epic rock efforts that come with a powerful, reflective, and authentic message. Fear not though, Breed 77 still sound like Breed 77, and a flash of fun flamenco melody proves it.
