Today’s single slam features Tortured Demon, Rising Insane, Devin Crane and the Ragged Way, Future Static, Nordjevel, Underdark, Monkie Mind, and Heilung. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.

Tortured Demon – Apocalypse

UK thrash upstarts, Tortured Demon have unveiled their first release through BLKIIBLK, ‘Apocalypse’.

The band commented:

‘Apocalypse’ channels the anger and resentment of the young, staring into a bleak future that’s being actively sold off by the ruling classes. With E-standard thrash and low-tuned breaks all melted into the same pot, this song cohesively brings together all of the sonic elements of Tortured Demon, as we look towards the future both musically and lyrically. ‘Apocalypse’ serves as our mission statement moving forward, and we are proud to launch it as our debut BLKIIBLK track.

The next chapter of Tortured Demon is here, and it comes with some exciting new touches. Namely more heavy harmony and more focus on delivering a memorable chorus, which is exactly what we get here, and it’s a freaking banger. Undeniably heavy, it’s head banging gold. They’ve come a very long way, yet still retain their identity, and the future is looking very exciting.

Rising Insane – Escalation

Following their highly praised album ‘Deathrace’, Rising Insane waste no time in delivering a brand-new single celebrating the beauty of the metal community. It is called ‘Escalation’.

Rising Insane on the new song:

‘Escalation’ is an ode to the metal scene—to every fan, promoter, festival, and band that keeps this community alive. The song captures the powerful emotions that rise within us when we come together at concerts and become part of something bigger—a community built on mutual respect, tolerance, and togetherness, where, for a moment, we are one big family.

It celebrates that moment when we lose ourselves and go wild together. When anger transforms into energy, loneliness turns into connection, and we surrender to the unstoppable current that carries us all forward. ‘Escalation’ is about that shared release—the raw energy, the unity, and the feeling of belonging that makes the metal scene so unique.

Coming from the ‘Deathrace’ sessions, it’s no surprise that this track has that feel, yet it also is like nothing else on that album. Finding Rising Insane keeping it simple as they focus on delivering anthemic heaviness at a relentless pace. The chorus is solid as hell.

Devin Crane and the Ragged Way – When All Became None

‘When All Became None’, from fictional movie band Devin Crane and the Ragged Way, is out now. The character of Devin Crane has appeared in 2021’s Morbid Colors, 2023’s Real Cool Time, and 2025’s The Ghost That Wouldn’t Die. All written and directed by Matthew Packman.

You don’t need to know anything about Devin Crane to enjoy this track, but knowing the character and the story adds a new layer of excitement and intrigue to it. Devin Crane is a tortured soul, and this comes through strongly throughout. She’s also a rock star and that means we get a punchy blast of body-shaking heavy groove with infectious qualities. There’s danger here though, but that is what you get with Devin Crane.

Future Static – Waterworks

Australian breakthrough heavy act Future Static return to their post-hardcore roots with their new single ‘Waterworks’, taken from their new album ‘Ornaments & Memories’, out 6th November via Wild Thing Records.

Vocalist Amariah Cook comments:

This song is from a time where I became completely tunnel-visioned, all I could see were the obstacles getting closer every time, and when I tried to steer away I’d just crash into another one. It eventuated into self-hatred, panic attacks, meltdowns, which impacted some of the people closest to me. I was too caught in the cycle to see the bigger picture. I unloaded exactly how I was feeling in ‘Waterworks’, and am grateful to have had somewhere to store all these awful feelings for a little while rather than lugging them around in my own body, and what better place than splayed over some filthy riffs and chugs.

Future Static in an unapologetic post-hardcore mood, delivering a passionate and explosive listen that comes with tons of infectious melody. It’s one of the best tracks released from this album so far, showcasing emotion and power in unforgettable fashion.

Nordjevel – Unbound in Death

Norwegian black metal band Nordjevel have released ‘Unbound in Death’, the first single from their fourth full-length album ‘Damnous’, accompanied by an official music video. The track opens the campaign for the record, the band’s debut release for Season of Mist’s Underground Activists imprint, due for release on December 11th.

Four-ish minutes of absolute eye-watering, ear-bleeding, and skull-crushing speed and heaviness. The intensity of this one is downright nonsensical, and Nordjevel revel in its destructive power. Black metal at its most hateful and horrible, but black metal at its most appealing too.

Underdark – Death of a Toolmaker

Underdark’s new single ‘Death of a Toolmaker’ is out now via Church Road Records. The single is taken from their forthcoming album ‘O Come Forth Annihilation’, slated for release on 6th November.

Says vocalist Abi Vasquez:

Our aim with Death of a Toolmaker was to construct the heaviest, most relentless, and unforgiving track we’ve written to date.

Lyrically, I wrote about the rhetorical tactics politicians use in order to gain access to power under the guise of being a “man of the people”, only to immediately enact repugnantly cruel domestic and foreign policy at the whims of the billionaire class.

Almost eight minutes of relentless blackened metal, Underdark delve deeply into their darker and heavier side here, and unleash a cacophony of impassioned fury. It’s a startling listen because it is so intense, but as it goes on, more recognisable aspects of Underdark’s sound begin to slip in adding more expressiveness to the track. It’s a beast, one you simply can’t ignore.

Monkie Mind – Ignite

Newcastle based melodic punkers Monkie Mind are back with their new single and music video, ‘Ignite’, which is out now through Canadian label People of Punk Rock Records.

A vibrant and lively listen that comes with tons of earnest melody, Monkie Mind showcase layers on this new single. Layers of punk rock nostalgia, poppy infectious beats, and more. It’s a really likeable listen.

Heilung – Læknisgaldr

Heilung, the world-famous ritual collective from Denmark and Germany, have released ‘Læknisgaldr’, accompanied by an official music video. The track is the lead single from Sagas, which arrives on Season of Mist on December 11th, 2026. It collects recordings that core members Kai Uwe Faust, Maria Franz and Christopher Juul created in collaboration with Ninja Theory for the video game Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga.

Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga is an awesome game, and part of the reason is lives long in the memory is its soundtrack. A song of healing, Heilung put heavy focus on the haunting and ethereal vocals, while delivering thick and layered atmosphere. It is a soul cleansing listen.
