RXPTRS Unveil ‘In Another Life’ – New EP ‘TALES OF ILL REPUTE’ Releases November 20th
Hot off the heels of their announcement of their upcoming new EP, TALES OF ILL REPUTE, South West UK noise makers RXPTRS have another announcement, covering something quite unique and very important for the band.
RXPTRS are proud to reveal their brand new single, ‘In Another Life’, which is unlike anything the band have done before. In Another Life is a raw, stripped back acoustic track, with vocalist Simon Roach demonstrating another side of his comprehensive vocal range. In Another Life holds a special place for the band, and Simon explains:
Written for a friend who took their own life, ‘In Another Life’ is a vulnerable, sonic pivot for RXPTRS. Set for release on World Suicide Prevention Day, all streaming profits will be donated to a mental health project close to their hearts, For Younger You tackle mental health issues with an emphasis on Suicide Awareness. As well as streaming revenue, the band have an exclusive merch line being released, all profits also going to For Younger You.
To honour Ryan, the band’s friend who they lost to suicide, the song is performed by the band and a choir made up of Ryan’s friends. An accompanying video has also been released, documenting the friends performing the song in a field where Ryan used to walk with his family.
The song is acts as a tribute to lost ones, but is also a hopeful note for anyone suffering from grief.
For Younger You was founded by Zaid Elgahmi in 2021. After losing a friend to suicide, Zaid began visiting schools to talk openly with young people about mental health, suicide awareness and cyberbullying. Since 2022, he has spoken to more than 30,000 students across the UK without charging schools for the talks. He is now expanding that work through For Younger You, a youth mental health project combining school outreach, free practical resources and original video content designed to make difficult conversations feel more relatable and accessible. For more information, please visit For Younger You’s website.
As described by Simon above, RXPTRS are releasing a special T-shirt with all proceeds going to For Younger You. The design of the shirt can be seen below, with ordering details to follow on the band’s website and social media in the coming days.

As mentioned above, RXPTRS have just announced their brand new EP, TALES OF ILL REPUTE, will be landing on digital platforms everywhere on the 20th of November! TALES OF ILL REPUTE is the first non single release from RXPTRS since their 2022 album Living Without Death’s Permission.

Bringing you six tracks of RXPTRS unique, high octane sound, TALES OF ILL REPUTE will appeal to fans all the way across the heavy spectrum, from Alter Bridge to Billy Talent and System Of A Down to The Damned Things. Thematically, TALES OF ILL REPUTE is a layered release. RXPTRS frontman Simon Roach to explains:
TALES OF ILL REPUTE is the first in a double feature of EPs. The songs are all based upon real life incidents that I took and placed in a fictional universe to play out one narrative. So each song has a double meaning. A place in the storyline, and what actually happened in real life.
I’ve never been one to open up, and never really processed quite large life events in a straight forward manner. So creating this fictional world has helped vocalise feelings of grief, anger, optimism and denial. It’s easier to get perspective when I can visualise other people in these situations, so writing these songs has been quite cathartic.
Each of the songs play out a scene, so I decided to name the tracks as if they were B-movies. The narrative plays out as a gang of stragglers travel through an apocalyptic wasteland, travelling through districts to get to a final destination, where they can overthrow a governed area, The Capital, to live out their days there, encountering loss and hardships along the way. In real life, each of the ‘districts’ that I’ve created are actually a metaphor for the stages of grief, and overthrowing the governed district is how I battled stress and depression while grieving.
