Amon Amarth – Eight Legs of Thunder

Amon Amarth return with ‘Eight Legs of Thunder’, the final preview ahead of their forthcoming album ‘The Allfather’ Awakens which sees its release 2nd October via Metal Blade Records.

Viking cowboys? How about that! Though don’t be fooled into thinking, sound wise, Amon Amarth are offering up something vastly different. What we have here is an infectious and energetic epic that has strong chest beating and head banging vibes, capped off by a banging guitar solo. The new album is shaping up to be a big one.

Della Nova – Burning Fuel

Following support from the likes of BBC Introducing and Deezer, Della Nova return with ‘Burning Fuel’, third single from the forthcoming album, ‘Satori’. The track explores anger, violence and having a short fuse – how quickly a situation can escalate from zero to 100 in a split second.

Featuring big riffs, tons of groove, and heavy energy, this new Della Nova track is a banger. A banger with melodic heft and hard rock power. It’s the kind of track that will have widespread appeal as it draws from a wide array of genres, showcasing the band’s creativity at its most potent.

Walls of Jericho – Agency

Legendary hardcore force Walls of Jericho are back with their long-awaited new album ‘System Error: Humanity’ dropping 13th November 2026 via Napalm Records. The new single, ‘Agency’, is out now.

Vocalist Candace Buckingham comments:

‘Agency’ is a song about freedom. The kind that lives within you, the kind no one can take away, and the kind you have to fight for every single day.

A band that has nothing to prove, but a band that continues to aim so damn high. This new track goes hard, lasting barely two minutes, and delivers a head spinning blast of heavy hardcore noise. Walls of Jericho sound furious and that culminates in a breakdown that hits so damn hard.

Strange Company – Do You Feel Numb?

South Wales alt-rock quintet Strange Company have returned, armed with their new single ‘Do You Feel Numb?’

Frontman Matt Davis explains:

‘Do You Feel Numb?’ is built around a line I still find hard to say out loud: “I’m scared I’m turning into everything I’ve been running from.” Spend long enough avoiding your fears and you end up giving them all your focus anyway. The person I want to become is scary too, because of everything I’d have to overcome to get there.

The song is also about chasing numbness like it’s the finish line, only to get there and find nothing waiting for you. The pain stops, but so does everything else, and what’s left just feels hollow.

DYFN? almost didn’t survive. It started as an ’80s pop-rock demo and got shelved, only getting a second chance when we all sat down together to make the decision to delete it forever but saw something special there. As we tore it apart and rebuilt it, our guitarist, Owen said something that stuck with me: the song doesn’t belong to us, we’re working in service of it. From there we dropped everything we thought we knew about the song and put weeks of work into writing it the way it deserved to be written. That’s what it took to turn it into the punchy, bleakly honest emo rager it is today.

Alternative rock with heart, soul, and no small amount of power, Strange Company have taken inspiration from earlier eras of the sound, blended it with emo, and added a touch of post hardcore to create something very memorable. It takes hold almost immediately, and as the track goes on, that grip tightens. The word that comes to mind is addictive.

Burner – Accelerationist

Burner have unleashed their new single ‘Accelerationist’! Taken from their forthcoming album ‘No One Is Coming to Save Us’, out 25th September via Church Road Records.

Says the band:

‘Accelerationist’ is about people that inspire cowardly acts of terrorism, playing on people’s fears, spreading lies and hatred. The kind of monsters that prey on the weak to lure them into extremism. If they want a conflict to bring their paradise into being, prepare to lose.

A short and sharp blast that focuses on ferocity and speed, this new Burner track continues the trend of ‘in your face’ efforts that have been coming from the new album. Seemingly promising the most intense Burner release yet. As always, it’s all about the layers and how Burner bend the blackened hardcore genre into something so much more. This one will cause chaos live.

Annalynn – Resurface

Thailand-based metalcore outfit Annalynn have shared their new single, ‘Resurface’, out via Greyscale Records.

Says the band:

‘Resurface’ tells the story of battling a lost self, trapped by control and the emptiness that gradually devours happiness in life. It depicts the journey of reclaiming freedom and rediscovering one’s true self in the right way, without being forced by anyone anymore.

Metalcore, but metalcore with a chaotic edge, this track is beastly. At least until the chorus hits and we get clean singing that adds a new layer of dynamism to the track. There’s enough unique parts here to make this an interesting effort.

Nokturne – Hydraulic Press

Nottingham’s heaviest newcomers Nokturne have arrived, violently kicking and screaming into the world with their debut single release, ‘Hydraulic Press’.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the single, vocalist James Hibberd shares:

‘Hydraulic Press’ is a very personal song that I wrote about being in a very dark place. The general theme of the song is struggling to survive and feeling like you have been a burden on your loved ones for too long.

It was written at a time where I was experiencing great physical pain due to chronic illness and injuries. Sometimes we need to write some of this stuff down so that we don’t have to carry its weight.

First impressions are important, and Nokturne certainly make sure that all who hear this track won’t be forgetting them anytime soon. It’s a snarling, aggressive, and dark effort that is exceptionally heavy. Keep an eye on these guys, they’re sounding great.

Hollow Pact – Witchking

Rising hard rock outfit Hollow Pact have unleashed their latest rager ‘Witchking’ and the official music video.

When asked about the inspiration behind ‘Witchking’, the band commented:

‘Witchking’ represents that moment when you are watching somebody collect an unwarranted sympathy after they were the cause of another persons suffering and pain. Its about the frustration it feels to witness their dishonest feelings on display as they allow themselves to fall into the hands of a story that no one knows the other side of.

A high-powered blast of noisy rock with melodic lulls that add gravitas to potent lyrics. There’s an emotive vein running through this track, but it doesn’t dominate, allowing the instruments to ‘heavy up’ when called upon. It’s quite an addictive listen.

LUGOSi – Kate Whispers

Parisian hardcore punk/experimental band LUGOSi have released ‘Kate Whispers’, the second single from the forthcoming album, ‘The Scars’ which is set for self-release on the 18th of September.

A near indescribable experience that surprises in all the best ways, LUGOSi’s new single is a defining listen for this upcoming album. Not only showcasing the chaos of their sound but showcasing how deep and layered it is. They’re a band brimming with life, wearing their hearts on their sleeves, and noisy efforts like this impress.

The Browning – Obsolete. Delete. Repeat.

‘Rave’ metal band, The Browning have released their new single ‘Obsolete. Delete. Repeat.’, out on FiXT.

There’s a small part of me that can’t help but grimace when I see the words ‘rave metal’ put together and in many cases this kind of fusion would be nothing more than a gimmick. The Browning are more creative though and know how to balance things in experimental fashion. It’s odd, but it’s heavy, and manages to hold the attention nicely.

Plaiins – Cookie Jar

British/German alt-punks Plaiins have released their new single, ‘Cookie Jar’. The track tackles the millennial grind – capturing the frustration of working endlessly only to realize that the promised reward of a secure, comfortable life is out of reach.

Plaiins on the new single:

‘Cookie Jar’ is written from a millennial perspective about growing up being promised a very specific version of adulthood: work hard, go to university, get a good job and you’ll be rewarded with financial security, a house and a holiday once a year. But the economic landscape changed, the goalposts moved, and yet our generation is still often blamed for being lazy or entitled. The song comes from the frustration of working 60 hours a week and still feeling like it’s almost impossible to get ahead. The “cookie jar” is the modest, normal life we were told hard work would guarantee us.

A solid Plaiins effort that delivers my favourite things about the band, namely punk-infused energy, rocky weirdness, and one hell of a catchy chorus. It’s a lovable banger with a sharpness that cuts through.

Left to Suffer – STFU

Modern metal force Left to Suffer is back with a new anthem as they continue the rollout of their forthcoming record. ‘STFU’ is out now, and comes from their new full-length album, ‘Unwelcome Guest’, arriving 9th October.

Speaking on the new single, guitarist Peter Higgs shares:

Some people think we sold out. Others think we lost the plot. So we did what anyone else from Atlanta would do and tuned up to Drop B, wrote some nu metal riffs, and talked a whole lot of shit. This one’s for everyone who decided they knew what LEFT TO SUFFER was supposed to be better than we did.

I’m not quite sold on this one, I’m afraid. I like that Left to Suffer do their own thing and refuse to be boxed in. I like that they are clapping back at those who demand they conform. I also like the intensity of the vocals, but that’s about all I like. It’s just not that creative or interesting, sounding jagged and mismatched, and lacking spark.

Beyond Extinction – Witchfinder

Essex deathcore natives Beyond Extinction return with their brand-new single, ‘Witchfinder’. A song that tackles the often-overlooked truth of one of human history’s most devious eras, with Essex’s role in the religiously-fuelled witch hunts of the 1600’s outnumbering the infamous and more globally publicised Salem witch trials, at a staggering 25 < 300+.

On the inspiration of the new track, vocalist Jasper Harmer explains:

‘Witchfinder’ is a track that holds a very important connection between the evil music we make and the evil place we come from. Learning about the depth of the witch hunts in the history of our home county of Essex was a fascinating but disturbing privilege and filming on location at some powerful spots made this a very unique single to create. I feel that reading on the exploitation of our county by fear mongering, mob mentality and cultural misogyny of the time has opened my eyes to a lot of comparatives in contemporary society as the beast of misinformation rears its ugly head all around us. We are proud to call this county our home, and we are always impressed by its rich and vital lineage in some of the most harrowing stories imaginable. ‘Witchfinder’ is your doorway into the terrifying history of the place we call home.

One of the UK’s best are back and delving into an interesting piece of history. A dark piece of history which fits their deathcore sound nicely. Beyond Extinction are on serious heavy form here and the differing tempos makes things sound even more brutal. This one will leave your ears ringing and head spinning.

Lost Velvet – 2003

‘2003’ is the new single from UK cinematic alternative rock duo Lost Velvet and it comes from their much-awaited debut album, Dark Cells, out on September 4th.

I like the unpredictable nature of Lost Velvet and like that this new track has a dramatic airiness that makes me think of The Roadhouse in Twin Peaks. Deep and disconcerting melodies blended with smooth vocals and a touch of rocked up power here and there, it’s a very cool track.

Polyphia – Power in the Blood

Genre-defying instrumental rock innovators Polyphia have announced that their fifth full-length studio album ‘Be Not Afraid’ is out 23rd October via Rise Records. The single, ‘Power in the Blood’ is out now.

Their back and, of course, things are sounding weird. Wonderful, though? Let’s be honest, Polyphia are a marmatite band and a track like this doesn’t change that. They are one of the most unique bands in the world, constantly experimenting to the point of madness, and a track like this will divide. Personally, I’m unconvinced by it, especially as it’s so heavy on bass and distortion.

Endeavour – Mother Horizon

Endeavour, a progressive metal band from Bristol, have released their new single, ‘Mother Horizon’.

A thrilling listen that pushes progressive thinking to the forefront while still delivering head banging metallised groove. Endeavour are a creative bunch, offering up something contemporary sounding that won’t necessarily only appeal to fans of progressive metal. It has an accessibility that helps it stand out.

Hatebreed – Fatal Paradox

Grammy-nominated hardcore legends Hatebreed will drop their long-awaited studio album ‘Fatal Paradox’ on November 6th via new label BLKIIBLK. The title track is out now.

Classic Hatebreed. Heavy hardcore infused groove that has an empowering message and comes with a breakdown liable to bust noses and break teeth. It’s a no-nonsense listen that is them through and through, and that’s no bad thing.
