News: Cage Fight release remix of ‘Oxygen’ by French multi-instrumentalist, Kabbel

UK metal outfit Cage Fight have released a new version of their track ‘Oxygen’, with the band’s top-streaming single receiving an electronic rework from French multi-instrumentalist Kabbel.

Based in Sweden, Kabbel has previously collaborated with artists including Perturbator, Cemetery Skyline and Imer6ia. The remix gives the fast-paced and energetic track a harder electronic edge, taking the song in a new direction while retaining the intensity of the original.

Speaking about the collaboration, guitarist James Monteith said:

“that a hard electronic version would be awesome. Given that we’re playing multiple festivals in France, and it’s Rachel’s home country, we thought it would be great to collaborate with a French artist, and Kabbel couldn’t have been more perfect. His work on ‘Oxygen’ captures the intensity, the stressful feeling of the original, but his skilful production and eclectic synth take the song into an entirely new realm. Play this loud!”

The original version of ‘Oxygen’ appears on Cage Fight’s second studio album, Exuvia, which was released via Spinefarm on May 1st 2026. Vocalist Rachel Aspe previously described the track as being “about a fight against time, when everything becomes overwhelming and suffocating”.

Recorded by Sam Bloor (Graphic Nature, Dream State) and mixed by Jim Pinder (Sleep Token, Malevolence), Exuvia retains Cage Fight’s raw hardcore edge while exploring more layered territory, giving the album a bigger, tighter and more expansive sound. The album also shows the band’s willingness to experiment and have some fun. ‘Pick Your Fighter’, for example, takes inspiration from French pop track ‘Et C’est Parti…’ by Nâdiya, who recently revisited the song.

Much of Exuvia’s lyrical material was written by vocalist Rachel Aspe, with the songs often drawing on deeply personal experiences. The expansive closing track, ‘Élégie’, deals with the loss of her grandfather and the regret that can come from things left unsaid. Elsewhere, ‘Pig’ takes aim at the creepy men who send women unsolicited messages online, while the title track was inspired by Rachel’s grandmother, who is currently battling cancer and also contributed to the lyrics.
