Single Slam: Thy Catafalque, EMNW, Dreadrott, and Grave Digger!

Today’s single slam features Thy Catafalque, EMNW, Dreadrott, and Grave Digger. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.

Thy Catafalque – Tömbök

Thy Catafalque, the Hungarian avant-garde metal project of Tamás Kátai, release new single and music video ‘Tömbök’ (‘Masses’), the second single from XIII: Sárga erdő, the band’s thirteenth album, out November 20th via Season of Mist.

An intense, disconcerting, and fascinating piece, you never know what you’re going to get with Thy Catafalque beyond knowing that it will be special regardless. This new single is a fast and heavy one, a blackened fast and heavy one, with some enigmatic eccentric twists such as flute soloing. It’s Thy Catafalque, and this new album is shaping up to be another masterpiece.

EMNW – Party Loud

Japanese nu-metal duo EMNW, comprised of EMMA and MENU, have released their new single ‘Party Loud’ via Music for Nations.

Speaking of the new single EMMA shares:

The second I heard the demo, I couldn’t wait to get on stage and go completely wild with everyone! It’s loaded with raw intensity about owning who you are, and carries that heavy message that no matter where you’re from or what language you speak, the moment we turn up together, we’re one community. It’s pure EMNW energy that gets your whole body moving! Let’s roar ‘3, 2, 1!’ together at the shows and bring the house down as the EMNW family!

Continuing to discuss the new single MENU shares:

I am beyond hyped to finally drop this track! The message hits hard on staying true to yourself while keeping your feet on the ground, which is something I live by. It gives me an instant boost every time I play it—putting this on first thing in the morning is the ultimate kick-start. Let’s scream ‘3, 2, 1!’ and set it off. Out on tour, I want to create moments where complete strangers end up jumping shoulder-to-shoulder. Put it on heavy rotation and make sure you lock down the chants!

A lively anthem that combines pop-punk with heavier and more intense metal moments, EMNW know how to make infectious music. The cherry on top being a rocking chorus designed to get a crowd bouncing hard and singing along loudly.

Dreadrott – Free Meat Grinder

Dreadrott, a death metal project from Kadıköy, Istanbul, released their debut single ‘Free Meat Grinder’ back in August.

Short and straight-forward extreme metal, Dreadrott’s approach is one of violence. The kind that leaves bones broken, flesh torn, and blood pooling. Coming in at less than two minutes, it is a feral sounding effort with some notable moments of flair.

Grave Digger – The Number

German heavy metal legends Grave Digger present ‘The Number’, the new single from their upcoming studio album ‘Faces of Pain’, set for release on January 15, 2027, via Reaper Entertainment.

Vocalist Chris Boltendahl comments:

‘The Number’ is far more than just a song – it is a cry against forgetting and a memorial to humanity.

We look back at one of the darkest chapters in history. There was a time when people were stripped of their names, their identities and their dignity. Instead, numbers were burned into their skin. They were no longer seen as human beings, but treated like animals – trapped in an unimaginable system of systematic inhumanity.

When we look at the world today, a justified fear begins to creep in: the fear that these horrific times, in a different form, could one day return. That we might forget where hatred and the dehumanization of others can lead.

This is exactly where ‘The Number’ comes in. This song is an unequivocal statement against the horrors of the past. Against what happened and what none of us ever want to experience again. But despite its serious and historical context, the song carries an even more important message: it is a symbol of hope. A sign for peace, for the inviolable dignity of every human being and for a future in which every name matters and every individual is free to be who they are.

Warm those neck muscles up, Grave Digger have a new track and it’s one hell of a head banger. The band lean into their old-school sound here, and the result is much more satisfying. It’s a track that showcases just how much talent is in this band and will please anyone who likes some riotous heavy metal noise.
