Album Review: Graveyard – Fever (Nuclear Blast Records)

Are you ready to rock? Graveyard are back and with a new album in tow. The beloved Swedish rock group will release their seventh studio album, ‘Fever’, on October 9th, 2026, via Nuclear Blast Records.

I get such a kick out of Graveyard and their exciting blend of old-school riff-driven rock music and modern creative and varied anthemic thinking. So, it should come as no surprise that I approached this album with a certain amount of feverish excitement.

Excitement that only increased as track after track pummelled me in varied, hyperactive, anthemic ways. This isn’t THAT kind of beating, rather it’s the kind that makes you hot, sweaty, and tired, but leaves you with a big smile on the face. It’s simply too much fun, and Graveyard’s raw, fuzzy, distorted sound is really appealing. Especially as we get riffs, titanic sized riffs.

Loud enough to wake the dead, Back from the Grave is a noisy, groovy, and lovable start. Not just setting the bar high for the album but setting the bar high for rock music this year.

Yes, I said it, I think this album is one of the best rock albums of the year and it’s all because of moody and distorted efforts like A Better Cut (Note to Self), with its sharp guitar soloing adding a new layer of dynamism to the track. Tracks like the bluesy Time to Tell with its psych-tinged anthemic layers, the lively body shaker that is Don’t Shoot with its infectious chorus, and the mood-altering dramatic closer that is Dead Note. An elaborate, but inspired finisher.

Elsewhere we have hardy groove monsters like Tongue Tied, A Means to An End, and Room Tempered. Graveyard at their simplest, but Graveyard still on top form. My favourite? It’s hard to say but Year of the Horse is one I keep coming back to and mainly because of the ending section of the track. *Chef kisses*
