Horror Short Review: Vent (2026)

Vent is an award-winning horror short from Nightwire Films. It was originally produced as part of the 2026 Horror 72 Hour Film Race.

I love events like the Horror 72 Hour Film Race as the pressure to create something in such a short amount of time breeds some seriously creative stuff. Talent rising up to meet an incredible challenge and delivering something impressive. That is what we get here with Vent.

Telling the story of a woman named Kate (Kat Fletcher) who is woken one night by a voice whispering from her closet. When she turns the light on, there’s no-one there. Is it just her imagination? What about the neighbour’s story about a man who was caught crawling through the vents? Whatever is going on, it’s having a negative effect on her mental health, and her boyfriend is more concerned with gaslighting her.

A fun, absorbing, and creepy story with an excellent payoff, Vent is a much watch.
