EP Review: Pleb – Grease Trap (Human Worth)

Human Worth presents the debut EP of Leeds duo Pleb, featuring members of Cattle, Grub Nap, Thank, and Give Over. It is called ‘Grease Trap’ and it will be released on August 7th, 2026.

A match made in f**king hell. Human Worth, purveyors of noise and nonsense, and Pleb, the outlet of noise and nonsense. Together, they offend the senses with a six track, twelvish-minute slice of rancid sludge heaviness. There’s nothing pretty here, but that is a big part of its appeal.

Think of the sweatiest venue you know. Pack it out and turn the temperature up to unbearable highs. The resulting stickiness would be simply horrendous, and in such an environment, we as humans, would regress to something more primordial. Now throw in a sonic assault that would make your head swim and your guts loosen, and you might begin to understand what the Pleb experience is like.

We are all just f**king soup.

This is the kind of short and sharp experience I expect more from grindcore, so to find it based in sludge and noise, is just delightful. Yes, it’s carnage. Scum-sucking carnage that would see the local holy lot called in to exorcise the demon that clearly lives within, after all, what kind of NORMAL person would like this? Yet, there’s so much more to it and discovering that is part of the fun. It is well worth debasing yourself to do so, and even though others might turn away in disgust, both Human Worth and Pleb are there to remind you that you don’t have to be ashamed of liking this record.

It’s noise and nonsense, but it’s addictive as f**k, and that is what has kept me coming back time after time.
