Album Review: The Beautiful Monument – Euphoric Thriller (Greyscale Records)
Alternative emo-rock favourites The Beautiful Monument will release their long-awaited third album, ‘Euphoric Thriller’, on August 7th via Greyscale Records. The release marks their first album in over seven years.

A band who excels at making likeable music that connects on a deeper level, this new album from The Beautiful Monument is a delight. Especially if modern emo-tastic rock tunes that blend lively anthemic properties with soulful energy are your jam. I mean, who in their right mind is going to turn their nose up at that!?
There’s a really strong sense that The Beautiful Monument have been paying attention to musical trends in recent times. Delivering a collection of contemporary sounding tracks that will have universal appeal. Simply put, this is an album that goes well beyond the limitations of genres, and it will find audiences in the most unexpected of places, I suspect.
Look at me as an example. I listen to a lot of metal, some of the most extreme stuff out there, and I find myself hypnotised by a lot of this album. I’m not going to tell you that The Beautiful Monument are doing anything game-changing here, because that’s not the case, but they are making one hell of an impact nonetheless and all because it’s an album packed with memorable moments. Most of which come from the immense vocals.
The first half of the album is strong, featuring the likes of Game Over, Mayday, and Dancing with the Buried. Each delivering sharp choruses, foot-tapping melodies, and brisk rock energy. Tracks that come with feeling, but tracks that you can shake your body to as well. Whereas CraveAnythingThatStays really leans into more modern alternative rock and pop territories, delivering bursts of heart-racing passion. That one is a personal favourite.
Showcasing a bit more esoteric drama and just a touch of dark cinema, the title track is very cool. It’s a great example of what I mean when I describe much of the album as being hypnotic. It might only be two and a half minutes long, but it grips, and while Cry About It doesn’t have quite the same impact, the danceable quality of this one is quite remarkable.
There’s plenty more to enjoy in the latter half too. Although one I might be a bit too poppy personally is Sorry… A track I struggled to get on board with. Thankfully these moments are few and far between, and Off Script brings things back in melodramatic fashion. The heavy uptick of this track is fantastic. Then there is Bring It, a big and bouncy track that has a fun, dark industrial tinge. Before the album wraps up with one more anthem, See You on the Other Side.
It’s a return to take note of. A return that does impress, and a return that I think all open-minded fans of alternative music can find something to enjoy about.
