EP Review: Metasoma – Core (Self Released)

London heavy metal quintet Metasoma return on August 2nd, 2026, with ‘Core’, their brand-new EP.

Do you like your metal anthemic? To make you want to move and groove? To sound polished and professional, but to have head banging inducing bite? If so, I have some good news…

Five tracks, five bangers, with different ideas, but with one important thing in common, which is passion. Metasoma have thrown their all into this release, and it pays off. I found it to be thoroughly addictive, and while I do have my favourites, there’s little to complain about overall.

One such favourite is the anthemic Downfall, with its punchy flashes of heaviness and catchy chorus. Another is Omen as it has layers of intensity, a grandness not found elsewhere on the EP, and an absolute hand banger of an ending. Although, gun to my head, Horizon might be my favourite because it has an aggressive streak that appeals, another likeable chorus, and cool guitar soloing. No complaints about Attic or Shock though, both tracks are hefty too.

Overall, it’s a really strong EP that showcases a polished sound that has heavy appeal, but enough anthemic properties to capture the mainstream’s imagination.

Metasoma – Core Track Listing:

1. Downfall
2. Attic
